What sets CBD apart from THC? Does CBD oil contain THC? In the rest of this article, you’ll find answers to all these questions.

What is CBD?

Cannabidiol, or CBD for short, is a natural molecule that belongs to the cannabinoid family. Like THC, it is a substance found in hemp. Despite the many debates and controversies surrounding this substance, it is recognized as safe for consumption and non-harmful.

CBD has various therapeutic properties that make it a highly sought-after substance among thousands of people, particularly for improving the physical and mental well-being of its users. This is, in fact, the reason why the law permits not only its cultivation and production, but also its sale and consumption. The only requirement for legality is that CBD products must contain less than 0.3% THC.

An Overview of CBD and THC

CBD and THC have one thing in common. As mentioned above, both are derived from hemp. They are active chemical compounds that interact with the endocannabinoid receptors found throughout our bodies (nervous system, organs, immune system, etc.).

Beyond this similarity, CBD and THC differ in many ways. For example, unlike tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), cannabidiol (CBD) is not a psychoactive substance. It does not cause a “high” and poses no danger to the body. Instead, CBD is believed to have soothing, analgesic, and antipsychotic effects on the body. This is particularly true ofElixir’s full-spectrumanti-stress CBD oil.

Several studies have shown that CBD is not addictive and is not harmful, unlike THC. As a result, it is not classified as a controlled substance, and its sale is completely legal.

CBD products with a THC content of less than 0.3% are, in fact, legal for sale. However, in some countries, such as France, CBD is not considered a medication. It remains a dietary supplement that provides health benefits to its consumers. Nothing more! These products are part of the selection available in our CBD shop.

So, do CBD oils contain THC?

CBD oil is extracted using supercritical CO2. Most of these oils are full-spectrum and therefore also contain THC. However, this component is present in very small amounts, well below the legal limit in France.

In addition, the low THC content in cannabidiol oil enhances its effectiveness. It amplifies the effects of this product and makes it more natural.

Ultimately, it’s important to remember that pure CBD oil contains no THC. However, CBD oils that contain very small amounts of THC (less than 0.3%) are more effective because they benefit from the entourage effect. This is the case with our High Society CBD oil.
