How Can You Quit Smoking Naturally with CBD?

World No Tobacco Day is on May 31. This is an opportunity for us to tell you more about CBD and how it can help you quit smoking.

What is World No Tobacco Day?

Thirty-five years ago, the WHO established World No Tobacco Day to raise public awareness of the many dangers and harmful effects of tobacco on our health. It is important to remember that tobacco is the second leading cause of death worldwide, accounting for nearly 6 million deaths per year.

This year, the WHO reaffirmed its commitment to raising environmental awareness by choosing “Tobacco: A Threat to Our Environment” as the theme for World No Tobacco Day.

Tobacco production alone is responsible for the emission of 84 megatons of carbon dioxide per year and thus contributes significantly to global warming. Not to mention the deforestation and soil pollution caused by tobacco cultivation.

More than just a public health issue, tobacco has become an environmental problem with an increasingly significant impact not only on the countries where it is produced, but also on the rest of the world.

The WHO is therefore emphasizing this year the importance of governments taking the necessary steps to reduce tobacco use.

How CBD Can Help You Quit Smoking

Numerous studies have been conducted to examine the effects of CBD on nicotine addiction and smoking.

University College London studied the effects of CBD on nicotine consumption and demonstrated that CBD enabled the smokers in the study to reduce their nicotine consumption by nearly 40% compared to the group that received a placebo.

In addition, a follow-up study showed that CBD significantly reduces addiction to tobacco and nicotine—and thus the urge to smoke.

It reduces stress and anxiety

One of the main benefits of cannabidiol is its stress-relieving effect. In addition, this compound is also believed to help minimize symptoms of burnout or anxiety related to nicotine withdrawal. This well-known relaxant therefore allows you to take a break, catch your breath, rest, and let yourself be carried away by a wave of beneficial and relaxing well-being. All of this without causing dependence in the user.

CBD helps you sleep better

Nicotine withdrawal can lead to sleep disturbances. When taken in the evening, CBD helps you fall asleep faster and improves sleep quality. In cases of severe sleep disturbances, CBD, when combined with CBN, is even more effective at combating insomnia.

It improves your mood

Quitting smoking can lead to some irritability. In fact, CBD is thought to regulate serotonin, a hormone involved in mood. Similarly, it has been discovered that β-caryophyllene and D-limonene—two terpenes naturally found in the cannabis plant—have powerful antidepressant and anxiolytic effects. These can help lift your spirits when times are tough. Here are some terpene-rich strains that could improve your daily mood:

  • OG Kush
  • Royal Cheese
  • Mango OG

CBD alleviates withdrawal-related side effects

When we quit smoking, we may experience various aches and pains or even unwanted side effects. These often include headaches, or even fairly severe migraines. When it comes to pain, CBD can once again prove effective. It binds to endocannabinoid receptors and thereby modulates the pain signal, reducing the pain itself.

We can also consider weight gain. Since nicotine acts as an appetite suppressant, it may have helped you maintain your weight. CBD helps regulate your appetite. When consumed, CBD binds to the CB1 and CB2 receptors found throughout our bodies. By binding to these receptors, it is able to effectively influence our bodies. CB2 receptors are found, among other places, in the digestive system, which allows this molecule to act in that area and thus help regulate your appetite—even after you quit smoking!

Which CBD products can help you quit smoking?

To quit smoking in a healthy and peaceful way, using CBD oil (which has a higher CBD concentration than the flower itself) may be recommended. Its high CBD concentration will help you cope more easily with nicotine withdrawal while breaking the habitual act of smoking.

You can also turn to hemp flowers themselves. This approach is more gradual because it helps you wean yourself off nicotine and quit smoking thanks to the CBD and cannabinoids found in the flowers; it will allow you to gradually cut back on your consumption while also reducing your risk of cardiovascular disease and cancer.

As for the blends, they’ll introduce new flavors to your palate. A few hints of raspberry leaves or other plants will help curb your craving for tobacco.

We also offer e-liquids and vaporizers that let you enjoy CBD vapor instead of the harmful smoke from nicotine, which contains 111 harmful substances—compared to just 3 in a vaporizer. With a vaporizer, such as the PAX 3, you’ll experience all the aromas of the flower itself, and you’ll find that Frozen Limereleases delicious lemon aromas. You’ll be surprised!

Thanks to CBD and its benefits, there are a variety of ways to reduce and/or quit smoking. From sublingual oil to vaporizers and CBD flowers, you’re sure to find a product that meets your expectations—and, most importantly, your needs—in our CBD shop.
