As Easy as CBD: The ABCs of CBD

As Easy as CBD: The ABCs of CBD

Since there are so many misconceptions and false beliefs surrounding CBD, here’s a primer to help you see things more clearly and better understand this wellness compound everyone’s talking about.

CBD is a naturally occurring compound in the hemp plant and is widely valued today for its many benefits.

A for: Relieves stress and anxiety

CBD has many benefits. The main and best-known benefit is its effect on stress and anxiety. When you take CBD while you’re stressed, it binds to the cannabinoid receptors found throughout your body to alter their signaling.

In this way, CBD reduces the signals associated with stress and thus effectively calms you down.

B for: Benefits

Since CBD is a cannabinoid (a molecule that acts on our endocannabinoid receptors), it interacts with several of our body’s systems, thereby exerting effects on multiple levels.

As a result, scientific research has been conducted that has highlighted the benefits of CBD:

  • It relieves stress and anxiety
  •

It relieves pain (migraines, menstrual cramps, muscle pain, joint pain, spasms, etc.)

  •

    It reduces inflammation

  •

It helps treat sleep disorders by making it easier to fall asleep and improving sleep quality

  •

    It improves skin quality

  •

It helps people overcome certain addictions, such as smoking and cannabis…

C for: Cannabinoids

Cannabinoids are molecules that occur naturally in the hemp plant. There are more than a hundred of them. Among the best known are THC and CBD. THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, is the molecule responsible for cannabis’s addictive and psychotropic effects.

CBD, or cannabidiol, is considered THE natural wellness compound. It has many benefits: it relieves stress, improves sleep quality, and alleviates pain…

Another lesser-known compound that is no less important is CBN, or cannabinol, which is produced when THC breaks down. CBN affects sleep in particular by helping you fall asleep faster and promoting deeper sleep.

D for: Drugs

CBD is not a drug! That is the ruling of the WHO and the European Court on the subject of CBD. CBD poses no health risks, unlike THC, which is psychoactive and addictive—two criteria that classify it as a narcotic.

In fact, CBD is now permitted in many sportsand is not considered a drug or a performance-enhancing substance.
