Saliva Test and CBD.

To my great surprise, I tested positive on a cannabis saliva test. The day before, I smoked two “June” CBD products labeled as having a 12% CBD content.
Even though CBD is sold legally (according to European law, as long as the concentration is below 0.3%), French law does not specify a threshold like it does for alcohol. Either you test negative, or if you test positive, it’s a criminal offense resulting in a driver’s license suspension, immediate impoundment of the vehicle, and a 5-day wait for the results of the second sample sent to the lab. (In my case, this deadline was exceeded; my driver’s license was returned to me and the impound on my vehicle was lifted. In good faith, during my statement to the gendarmerie, I presented my purchase receipt—except that three weeks after the prefect’s decision, I received a seven-month driver’s license suspension.) Then, after a hearing in criminal court, my license was ultimately suspended for 8 months, and I was fined €792. And one month before my license was returned to me, all at my own expense: a driver education course, a lab test to verify I wasn’t a drug user, and a psychological evaluation.
I live in the countryside; there are virtually no bus options to get me to work—no car, no job. I blew through all my savings to buy a car that doesn’t require a license so my life wouldn’t be ruined. I couldn’t make it to a medical appointment due to a lack of time and money. And I ended up in the emergency room in critical condition (luckily I was transferred to the Toulouse University Hospital; they performed a tracheotomy en route because the hospital in my town left me to die on a stretcher for 4 hours before I saw a doctor, and then waited another 10 hours before transferring me) So all that to say: CBD and THC—same story. A positive saliva test is a criminal offense if you’re in a big city. If you can get around by car, no problem, but for everyone who needs their car to work—or just to have a life—don’t drive for 2 or 3 days after smoking or using competition-grade Kleaner. The best thing is not to smoke at all—or to be like all the French people on painkillers, antidepressants, and relaxants—basically, whatever lets the drug companies rake in the cash.
