Why give your pet CBD?

Our pets, too, can have issues that affect their well-being. CBD is a compound that can help them regain a good quality of life and stay healthy. 

CBD is short for cannabidiol. It is an active molecule that occurs naturally in the cannabis plant. CBD is what is known as a cannabinoid, meaning it is a compound capable of interacting with cannabinoid receptors. 

All mammals have them, including our pets. 

They are therefore receptive and can enjoy all the benefits of CBD.

Unlike THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), CBD has no psychoactive properties and is therefore not considered a drug. On the contrary, it is completely legal and offers a wealth of benefits. 

Numerous scientific studies have shown that CBD has many effects on the bodies of our four-legged companions. 

Animals can also experience anxiety. It has now been proven that CBD significantly helps alleviate feelings of stress and anxiety. CBD has a calming effect that can help our four-legged friends better cope with the situation causing their distress. CBD actually modifies the stress response to help eliminate it. As a result, your pet will feel calmer and more at ease. 

For example, CBD is ideal if your cat gets stressed in the car or before a visit to the vet. It can also help alleviate feelings of abandonment when you leave your dog alone.

CBD has analgesic and pain-relieving properties. Taking CBD alters the signals transmitted by cannabinoid receptors, particularly those related to pain. CBD therefore blocks these signals and effectively soothes your four-legged companion. If your pet is in pain, CBD can be an effective natural solution to relieve it. 

Scientists have recently proven that CBD has a definite anti-inflammatory effect. CBD inhibits the COX-2 enzyme, which triggers inflammatory reactions. It thus works in the same way as traditional anti-inflammatory drugs.

It’s common for cats and dogs to suffer from osteoarthritis or joint pain as they age. Here again, CBD has proven to be very effective at relieving your pet’s pain. It’s very difficult to discuss dosage when it comes to CBD, since it depends on many factors, such as age, weight, gender, and the desired effects… 

Our High Society experts recommend that you start by giving your pet 2–3 drops and see how it reacts. If this dosage works for your pet and the effects are sufficient, you can stick with this dosage. If there are no effects or the effects are too mild, we recommend gradually increasing the dose until you find the one that works best for your pet. 

It’s important to note that animals are more sensitive to CBD than we are, which is why a 2% CBD concentration is sufficient to produce results.

However, every animal reacts differently, so it’s important to test to see how sensitive it is. But rest assured, there are very few side effects associated with taking CBD (such as diarrhea or drowsiness), and these disappear as soon as you stop giving it. Furthermore, there is no risk of overdose with CBD. So you just need to find the right dose for your dog or cat.
